SPC Slam Dunks with Commencement Speaker

Securing NBA Spurs champion David Robinson as the Spring 2023 Commencement speaker is a game changer for St. Philip’s College. His selection will be a special treat for their graduates. This commencement is distinguished as being a part of the year-long lineup to recognize SPC’s 125th Anniversary. Kickoff for the celebrations began on March 1, 2023, with an evening event and will continue throughout the year.
Robinson is known for his close ties to education on the Eastside of San Antonio. In 1998, during the height of his NBA career, he visited St. Philip’s College for its centennial. He served as the Honorary Chair of the Centennial Celebration and also participated in the Centennial Lecture Series inspiring the community with his dynamic speech, “New Directions for the Next 100 Years.” Furthermore, he has raised nearly $40 million for The Carver Academy, an independent school designed to serve pre-K through eighth-grade students.
The spring 2023 SPC commencement ceremony will take place on Friday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at the Freeman Colosseum. Over 1,000 SPC students have applied to graduate this May.
