St. Philip’s College’s Student Onboarding and Recruitment Department hosted two League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) partnership events in April, welcoming local high school students to campus for a day of academic exploration, campus tours, and career-focused programming.

The first event, held April 2, brought approximately 60 students from Highlands High School to campus, followed by a second event April 8 with about 70 students from Sam Houston High School.

Students participated in a series of breakout sessions and activities throughout the morning, including presentations on program opportunities at St. Philip’s College's two campuses, first-year experience programming, and a LULAC panel discussion. The day’s programming also included a campus tour, a bacterial meningitis clinic, and a resource fair featuring representatives from multiple college departments.

Following the sessions, students gathered for lunch and explored additional campus resources before departing in the early afternoon. The event also featured giveaways, including T-shirts, tumblers, and notebooks, along with informational materials to support future enrollment and academic success.

The LULAC events continue to serve as a key outreach initiative, connecting prospective students with academic programs, faculty, and support services available at the college. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to higher education and empowering students to pursue their academic and career goals.

“The nation’s largest HBCU is right here in San Antonio, providing direct access to a depth of resources and opportunities uniquely available through St. Philip’s College,” said Andres C. Arredondo, Dean for Student Success, Enrollment Management. “There has never been a more important time to learn a skill, and St. Philip’s College stands ready to equip students with the knowledge, training, and support needed to successfully launch and sustain their careers.”
