June 20, 2026

St. Philip’s College students and employees joined thousands of community members in the City of San Antonio’s Juneteenth Parade on June 20, 2026, honoring the historical significance of Juneteenth while showcasing Tiger Pride throughout the city.
Participants gathered at the Turbon Student Center on the Martin Luther King Campus early Saturday morning for check-in before boarding buses to Sam Houston High School, the starting point of the parade. The route traveled through San Antonio’s East Side before concluding at Comanche Park No. 2.
Representing St. Philip’s College were members of the Student Government Association, Collegiate 100, and Phi Theta Kappa. St. Philip’s College Queen Katherine Wynn and Prince Jackson Marshall received special recognition as invited riders on the City of San Antonio’s official Juneteenth float.
The parade was organized by the Juneteenth Freedom Coalition, a volunteer-led organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the significance of Juneteenth in San Antonio.
In observance of the federal holiday, the Alamo Colleges District and St. Philip’s College closed campuses on June 19.
Through its participation in the annual parade, St. Philip’s College joined the community in celebrating freedom, reflecting on the ongoing pursuit of equality, opportunity, and justice for all.
St. Philip’s College Homecoming Prince Jackson Marshall shared his enthusiasm for participating in the event.
“I haven’t attended a Juneteenth parade since I was a child,” Marshall said. “Participating today brought back a sense of nostalgia. This was my first time riding on a float, and I was proud to represent the college in such a meaningful way.”
