Klein Tools Visit Connects SPC Electrical Trades Students with Industry Practices
October 19, 2026

St. Philip’s College Electrical Trades students recently gained firsthand insight into the tools, safety practices and industry expectations they will encounter in the electrical workforce during the program’s first visit from Klein Tools.
More than 70 students and faculty participated in two sessions with a Klein Tools representative at the St. Philip’s College Southwest Campus. The visit provided students with an opportunity to connect what they are learning in the classroom with current practices and technologies used by professionals in the electrical trade.
During the presentations, students learned about electrical jobsite safety, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the responsibilities they will face as they transition into the workforce. The representative also demonstrated current tools and products used by electricians, giving students an opportunity to see how professional equipment is designed and applied in real-world settings.
The hands-on demonstrations also highlighted how advances in tools and technology continue to shape the electrical industry. Students received catalogs featuring current products and additional resources to help them become familiar with the equipment used by professionals in the field.
One of the most significant outcomes of the visit will extend beyond the classroom. Through the program’s electrical supply vendor, the Klein Tools representative is providing a tool discount for St. Philip’s College Electrical Trades students preparing to enter the electrical industry. The opportunity can help students begin building the professional tool collection they will need as they move into their careers.
For the Electrical Trades Program, the visit represents the value of establishing meaningful relationships with industry professionals and partners. The visit also supports St. Philip’s College’s commitment to providing students with career-focused learning experiences that prepare them for success in high-demand industries.
For the Electrical Trades Program, the first Klein Tools visit marks another step in strengthening industry partnerships and creating opportunities for students to connect their classroom education to the careers they are preparing to pursue. Connecting the classroom to the industry—one student, one opportunity and one partnership at a time.
