MISSION
The mission of the Career and Experiential Learning is to support the institution's academic programs by designing, implementing, and managing services and programs that meet the career and educational development and employment needs of the students.

Engaged Learning

The Career and Engage Learning office, offers an array of professional services that will assist students with exploring, developing, and participating in experiences, that relate to each student’s unique educational and career goals. Students are encouraged to begin career planning early, and the Career and Experiential Learning office can guide you on strategies for how to become a marketable candidate in the workforce.

    Parker Dewey Micro-Internships: Connects students to micro-internships, short-term, paid projects, offered by real companies. Students can apply to work on entry-level tasks, from a remote setting.
  • Alamo Colleges District – Office of Workplace Learning: Offers several ways to enhance your education through paid, hands-on opportunities in San Antonio or across the globe through local and regional internships, federal internships, STEM Research, and internship workshops.
  • City of San Antonio - Student Internship Program: Link theory to practice, gain real-world experience, and develop specialized skills while working in departments within the city’s organization.
  • Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU): Find internship opportunities, available scholarships, and job search.
  • Texas Internship Challenge: Find internship opportunities in a variety of industries all over Texas
  • Internships.com: Identified by Forbes as a “Top 10 Career Website,” this site lets you search through over 70,000 openings by using keywords and location.
  • WayUp: (Formerly InternMatch) Search for volunteer and paid internships by companies, cities, or categories. Sign up and create your profile to let recruiters find you.
  • ZipRecruiter: An additional internship resource. Can search by degree, location, salary, etc. 
  • Idealist: Gain experience by participating in volunteer work in your community. 
  • Volunteer Match: Find volunteer opportunities.
  • United Nations Volunteers: If you’re looking to take your online volunteering worldwide, this is the place to start. UNV connects you with organizations working for peace and development in need of skills like research, writing, art, and design. There are already over 12,000 volunteers from 187 countries lending their talents to organizations around the globe.
  • Catchafire: This volunteer search tool is exclusively for online volunteer projects. Each one has a timeline that can range anywhere from an hour to a few weeks. So whether you have an afternoon or several, you can help not-for-profit with tasks like writing thank-you letters or editing photos.
  • Smithsonian: The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, but even they could use a little help sometimes. Help make their collections more accessible by volunteering online to transcribe historical documents or edit Wikipedia articles related to their artifacts and research.
  • Amnesty International Decoders: Operated by Amnesty International, this network of digital volunteers helps conduct research into global human rights violations. Volunteers have used their phones and computers to verify the location of oil spills, fin evidence of drone strikes, and flag abusive tweets to women politicians in India.
  • Translators Without Borders: For those fluent in more than one language, check out this nonprofit that combines language skills with humanitarian aid. Volunteers provide translations (10 million words a year!) to international organizations that focus on crisis relief, health, and education.
  • Zooniverse: A platform for people-powered research that literally wouldn’t be possible (or practical) without the help of online volunteers. Spend as much or as little time as you’d like identifying endangered animals, classifying galaxy systems, or transcribing Shakespearean manuscripts.
  • Crisis Text Line: Here’s a perfect example of technology being used for good. Become a volunteer to help the Crisis Text Line continue to offer free, 24/7 support for those in crisis. If you’re at least 18 and can commit to volunteering four hours each week, you can apply to be trained for free.
  • Points of Light: Help create a global culture of volunteerism. Points of Light encourages you to find a way to get involved by reviewing the world’s largest network of volunteer opportunities.
  • DoSomething.org:  DoSomething empowers young people to enact social change both online or off. Volunteer online through one of our campaigns to help solve real-world problems. DoSomething members have used the interview to successfully urge Apple to diversity their emojis, change the dictionary definition of "Black/black", and create the largest crowdsourced anti-bullying guide.

    • Parking: Open parking in any non-reserved, non-employee, parking lot.
      • Lot 1 & 2: Provide additional parking, accessible to Student Commons.
      • Lot 3: The closest parking to Student Commons, but fills up quickly.
      • Lot 4: Further removed, but offers ample parking. Enjoy the walk of our natural surroundings!
      • Lot 5: The closest to the Library, and a quick walk to the Student Commons, but fills up quickly.
