Short Response Essays

Below are the prompts for the short response essays required on the scholarship application.

  • Tell us about yourself: Without including your name, introduce yourself and tell us a little about how you spend your time in and out of the classroom.  Examples include:  home life, hometown, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses, details about what you are studying and why, information about your academic and career goals, and achievements, a description of your involvement in any extracurricular activities and/or noteworthy responsibilities (like employment, family commitments, community service, military service, participation in organizations, sports teams, leagues, religious groups, etc.)
  • Tell us why you are pursuing higher education at Alamo Colleges and how a scholarship would support you: Explain why you chose to continue your education at Alamo Colleges and what receiving a scholarship would mean toward your academic goals.  Consider including:  details on what brought you to Alamo Colleges, how attending Alamo Colleges will assist you on your academic path, and a description of how receiving a scholarship would help you achieve your educational, career, financial and/or personal goals.  Include any specific problems receiving a scholarship would resolve and how you would use the funds.  If you are a current student, also explain what you value most about your experience at Alamo Colleges so far.
