Eligibility
Who can apply
- High school graduates.
- Transfer students taking core classes at SAC or a partner Alamo College.
- Travis Early College High School dual credit students, including those with:
- Gifted and Talented early admission.
- Honors Students/AP Exams.
- Homeschool @ SAC students.
- Students who are taking core classes at SAC towards a degree or applicable professional program.
- Students pursuing a SAC Associate’s Degree requiring at least 12 hours in the Texas Core Curriculum who are also willing to participate in some HAP activities, seek out some volunteer/experiential learning, and possibly complete a Research Symposium project by graduation (ideally, in the second or third semester of classes).
- Submit an Honors Academy Program application.
Minimum requirements
- High school graduates: minimum 3.25+ GPA (85/B).
- "College Ready" writing skills: TSIA 2.0 placement: college-level Writing and Reading with a minimum essay score of 5.
- If student is below these skills but really wants to join, they should contact the Director for a meeting on how the might make this happen.
- College first-year: minimum 3.25 GPA.
- Individual exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
After admission (to remain in good standing)
- You must maintain at least a 2.75 GPA.
- (students who drop below that will be reviewed and meet with the director regularly).
- Pass all attempted courses with a C or better.
- Meet academic advising benchmarks and meet with your advisor at least once a semester.
- Remain in good standing with the College.
