The Mi Gente Heritage Month Committee invites you to a variety of presentations to explore and celebrate Latinx culture and what it means to be Latinx today.

"Opening Ceremony: Mi Gente Through the Ages"
A plática with several wise Latinas/xs about intergenerational and intersectional concepts of identities.

Featuring Rene Martinez, SAC student, DJ, and future epidemiologist; Laura Aubry, SAC Distinguished History graduate and UTSA student; Graciela Sanchez, Director, Esperanza Peace & Justice Center; Jasminne Mendez, poet, playwright; Laurie Martinez, SAC student and writer.

Saul Flores, philanthropist and photojournalist, will share his three-month journey walking from Ecuador to Charlotte, North Carolina to create a deeper understanding of the hardships, hopes, and resilience of immigrants.

Mi Final Aseguraron: A Virtual Panel Discussion and Q&A
With Regional Mexican music dominating the U.S.-Mexican border, the documentary, Mi Final Aseguraron, addresses the musical life of Mario Madrigal, vocalist of La Zenda Norteña

Special Guests:  Mario Madrigal and Aldo Gonzalez of La Zenda Norteña and Eduardo Villasana and Edin Alain Martínez of Arrebol Films. The documentary will be available to stream at La Zenda Norteña’s YouTube channel.
