On this day we remember the people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, including those who died attempting to rescue others. Americans across the country will honor the victims of Sept. 11 with a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the moment that the first airplane struck the World Trade Center. As we remember those who perished, we also thank the first responders and service members who remain vigilant in protecting our nation.
