When a young servant girl accuses her former mistress of witchcraft in order to be with the woman's husband, a monstrous course of bigotry, mania and deceit ensues where no one in the late 17th Century town of Salem is safe from accusation. This 1952 Tony Award winner for the best play is an exciting drama about the Puritan craze and purge of witches and a timely parable of our contemporary society.
