SAC adds three academic chairs during 2022-23 academic year

The 2022-23 school year has seen the arrival of three academic chairs who are also new faculty members at San Antonio College.
The chairs are:
- Erik Hillskemper, chair of English, humanities, teacher education, and the Integrated Reading and Writing Center.
- Kevin Conlon, chair of dance, drama, fine arts, music, and speech.
- Henry Griffith, chair of mathematics, architecture, physics, and engineering.
They are joined by Julie Razuri, who is the interim chair of American Sign Language, English as a second language, international studies, interpreter training, and world languages.
Hillskemper arrived at SAC from William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., where he served as the director of the School of Humanities. He was also an assistant professor of English at the university where he taught courses including Composition, Shakespeare, and History of the English Language.
He earned a doctorate of English from Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. He received a Master of Arts in English, magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from California State University at Chico.
Before coming to SAC, Conlon served as the Dean of Academic Affairs for the Art Institute of Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. He was also a consultant for Key International Educational Consulting in Columbus, Ohio, and Provost for Southwest School of Art in San Antonio.
Conlon was a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga., where he taught several courses including Introduction to and Intermediate Sculpture, The Art of Spectacle, Drawing, and Survey of Computer Art Applications.
He received a Master of Fine Arts from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala.
Griffith came to SAC in 2022 as an assistant professor and coordinator for the engineering program. Before he came to SAC, he served in several positions at the University of Texas at San Antonio, including part-time lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Technology Licensing Associate in the Office of Commercialization and Innovation, and Associate Operations Director: MATRIX AI Consortium for Human-Well Being.
In addition, he served as a program faculty/research fellow in the Department of Computer Science at Texas State University in San Marcos.
He earned a doctorate in electrical engineering from Michigan State University, in East Lansing, Mich.; a Master of Science in management science from the University of Dayton, in Dayton, Ohio; and a Master of Business Administration in program management focus and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio
Razuri has been a member of the SAC faculty since 1999 and has served in several capacities at the college. She is a full-time instructor in the American Sign Language and interpreter training program and has served as the coordinator for the program.
She also served as an interim program coordinator for court reporting
She holds an advanced ASL/English Interpreter Certification as well as a Level III ASL/English Interpreter Certification.
She received a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with a specialization in interpreting for the deaf from Texas State University in San Marcos and an Associate of Applied Science with a major in interpreting for the deaf from San Antonio College.
