Sandra Lamb named new director of Project Apoyo Grant

Sandra Lamb is the new director of the Project Apoyo Grant at San Antonio College leading and managing a $2.5 million, five-year grant from the Department of Education.

Sandra Lamb web.jpgThe Title V Grant: Apoyo program aims to increase enrollment and retention for underserved first-time college students, including Hispanic and low-income students.  Lamb collaborates with Fidel Bem, director of advising, and Dr. Joan Jaimes, director of the Teaching and Learning Center to manage Apoyo program needs.

Apoyo, which means support in Spanish, refers to the program’s focus on building relationships and connections with students to help them complete their education goals. SAC received the grant, which is designated for developing Hispanic Serving Institutions, in October 2022.

Lamb came to SAC in November 2023 from St. Philip’s College, where she served as a certified advising coach. She began working at the Alamo Colleges District in 2005 and has held roles including senior advisor, grant writer, development officer, and recruiter/advisor.

Lamb holds a master’s degree in public administration from UTSA and a Bachelor of Science degree in rehabilitative services and counseling from the University of Texas – Pan American. She is the first in her family to earn a high school and a graduate degree.
