Getting Started

All international students (with a student visa) must either go to OC 220, call (210) 486-0116, or email: sac-iso@alamo.edu.

ESLA/ENGA Students (credit students)

Please follow these steps to apply:

  1. Complete the Web Admission Form from Apply Texas online: goapplytexas.org (Web Admission process takes 4 business days).
  2. Receive Banner ID in an email from College.
  3. Evaluate your transcripts at www.naces.org. 
    1. High school diploma – basic/general evaluation.
    2. University transcripts – course-by-course evaluation.
    3. GED in Spanish or English.
      1. Submit official transcripts & evaluation or GED scores to Admission and Records. Must be sent directly from the institution to SAC.
      2. Can be sent electronically to sac-transcripts@alamo.edu or mailed to San Antonio College, Attn: Welcome Center, Box 704,1819 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, Texas 78212.
  4. If you are UNDER 22 years old, you must get the Bacterial Meningitis vaccination and wait 10 days before registering online.
  5. Take the free English Proficiency Placement test. The test is offered Monday through Thursday at 9:30 a.m. by appointment. Please contact the Languages office at (210) 486-0965 or email sac-cell@alamo.edu to schedule your placement.
  6. After you take the Michigan placement test and fulfill all the enrollment steps, you will be registered in the Languages office.

Important note: 27 Hour Rule for tuition costs (for citizens and permanent residents only). Students taking more than 27 hours of Developmental Education courses (including ESLA or ENGA courses) will have to pay an additional charge of $118.00 per hour for In-District tuition and $176.00 per hour for Out-of-District tuition. Non-Texas residents or international students do not have to pay the additional charge.

CE-ESL Students (non-credit students)

Please follow these steps to apply:

  1. Fill out the ESL Placement Test Request. The link will open up a form where you can enter personal information. 
  2. Take the free English Proficiency Placement test. The test is offered Monday through Thursday at 9:30 a.m. by appointment. Please contact the Languages office at (210) 486-0965 or email sac-cell@alamo.edu to schedule your placement.
  3. After you take the Michigan placement test and fulfill all the enrollment steps, you will be registered in the Languages office.
