What is the program?

The Pre-Law program at San Antonio College supports students in creating a customized academic pathway toward transfer to four-year universities and, ultimately, law school. Through personalized guidance, the pre-law advisor helps students select courses that align with the American Bar Association’s recommended core competencies – skills, values, knowledge, and experiences essential for success in the law school admissions process.

What will I learn?

Students designated as Pre-Law are eligible to join the San Antonio College Pre-Law Association (SACPLA). Membership offers access to a variety of opportunities, including participation in pre-law student activities at local universities. SACPLA also helps students build essential collaborative skills for the legal profession. Working with the Pre-Law Advisor, students will choose engaging and challenging coursework at SAC that aligns with their interests. The American Bar Association recommends rigorous academic preparation to ensure students are well-equipped for the demands of law school.

What can I do with this course of study?

Students can transfer to a four-year university to continue their educational pathway in legal studies, political science, public policy, or other law-related fields in preparation for law school or careers in the legal profession.

What's special about the program?

The Pre-Law course of study at San Antonio College offers students specialized advising, access to legal-related events in the community, and membership in the SAC Pre-Law Association (SACPLA). Through these opportunities, students gain valuable insight into the legal profession, develop key academic and professional skills, and build a strong foundation for future law school success. Note: Pre-Law advising does not replace a student’s official academic advisor.
