Julie Kirkland-Poirier
Julie Kirkland-Poirier is a distinguished higher education leader with over two decades of experience driving student retention, academic opportunity, and institutional growth. As the Dean for Academic Success at Northeast Lakeview College, Julie oversees a comprehensive portfolio including Academic Support, Distance Education, Library Services, and High School Programs; dedicated to dismantling barriers to degree completion.
Julie’s expertise spans the entire student lifecycle. Her leadership is defined by a data-driven approach, evidenced by her previous role as Dean for Onboarding and Enrollment, where she led a team of 40 to achieve a 37.8% increase in enrollment and a 174% rise in completion rates over five years. A specialist in strategic enrollment management, she has developed sophisticated tracking systems for FTIC retention and pioneered "Institutional Withdrawal" initiatives to proactively re-engage students facing hardship.
Currently at the forefront of educational innovation, Julie is co-leading the college’s AI implementation strategy and serving on the Teaching and Learning Council. Her background as an educator includes designing curricula in global leadership and career development at the University of North Texas, where she achieved record-breaking retention rates for the College of Arts and Sciences. A staunch advocate for student rights, Julie has also served as a Title IX Lead and created essential support workflows for pregnant students.
Julie earned her Associate of Arts at Tarrant County College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Education in Counseling Education from the University of North Texas.
