The Northwest Vista College Honors Academy challenges high-achieving students to elevate their perspective and fully engage with their courses, their campus, their community, and the world beyond.
The program offers a variety of engaging coursework within a tight-knit community. These small, collaborative classes provide direct mentoring from our dedicated faculty, ensuring a personalized academic journey.
NVC honors courses do more than just cover the curriculum; they foster an experiential perspective through unique opportunities, including field study, applied research, and community impact.

- All Honors courses taken will be indicated as such on your college transcripts, whether it’s one or every Honors course offered. Complete 12 units of Honors-designated courses and you will be recognized as an Honors Graduate on your transcripts and at graduation.
Admissions Requirements
- First-Time-In-College (FTIC)
- Minimum 3.25 High School GPA
- First-time-in-college students must demonstrate college-level readiness in reading and writing (TSI placement)
- Application with writing sample, essay, or personal statement
Graduation Requirements
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Completion of at least four Honors-designated classes
- Completion of one experiential learning project
