Recognizing the 2026 Peace Laureates
SAN ANTONIO - The Blessing of the Peacemakers will be held on Sunday, March 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Northwest Vista College Palmetto Center for the Arts. "Revelations: Celebrating the Hidden Gems in our Community" will recognize organizations and individuals whose transformative work done locally and globally strengthens our extraordinary city.
“Northwest Vista College is fortunate to host the Blessing of the Peacemakers, and we honor those who are committed to peace and creating a compassionate world in our community,” said Northwest Vista College President Dr. Amy Bosley.
Recognition this year includes the following organizations and individuals:
- Corazon Ministries
- Honorable Nelson Wolff
- The Nurturing Hope Collaborative
- Dr. Paul Furukawa
- Shokare Nakpodia
The Nurturing Hope Collaborative is a large partnership that has provided inspiring peace education to students at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Trinity University, and Northwest Vista College.
During the event, each of the three higher education institutions and each of the following four nonprofit organizations that have supported and sustained the partnership will be recognized:
- Rotary Club of San Antonio
- Understanding Conflict Trust
- H.E. Butt Foundation
- Corrymeela Community of Northern Ireland
Additionally, individual recognition will be given to the following four Nurturing Hope Partners as 2026 Peace Laureates:
- Dr. Derick Wilson, MBE, for his work with Nurturing Hope
- Rev. Dr. Alexander Wimberly for his work with Corrymeela
- JC Clapsaddle for his work with Ukraine Relief
- Jack McGuire for his work with the “Seeds of Hope” program
The Blessing of the Peacemakers is at the beginning of the International Season of Nonviolence (Jan. 30 – April 4), which spans the anniversary dates of the assassinations of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This annual commemoration carries forward their shared revelation: that lasting, positive change is birthed through our collective, compassionate action.
The Blessing is also part of DreamWeek San Antonio, where community members are "invited to discover the profound truths shaping our city."
