NVC Drama: Avenue Q - Cast & Crew

Previous credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (William Barfée) & Amélie (Elton John/Hippolito). Outside of music theater, George enjoys performing with his folklórico group at Palo Alto College. He would like to thank the cast & creative team for bringing him along on this journey, and welcome you to Avenue Q!


_0009_kamea.jpgKamea Rodriguez (Kate Monster) is beyond ecstatic to return to NVC Drama for their rendition of Avenue Q! Some of her previous musical credits include James And The Giant Peach (James), Shrek The Musical (Gingy), The Little Mermaid (Carlotta/ Ensemble) and most recently, with NVC Drama, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown! (Ensemble). Kamea Rodriguez has earned Best Performer in her UIL rendition of Oh What a Tangled Web! (Jan), and is so very grateful to be given another opportunity to be back on stage as such a special character. She’d like to thank her wonderful cast and her directors for all their hard collaborative work! She'd also like to thank you for continuing to support live local theatre!


_0003_alex jones.jpgAlex Jones (Brian) is thrilled to be back in action after his most recent performances of Into the Woods (Baker) and SpongeBob the Musical (Patrick Starr). Alex is a drama major here at Northwest Vista College. Alex is a graduate of Harlan High School and a proud Texas thespian. He would like to shout out Thespian Troupe #8550 and director Briane Green for being a huge inspiration to him. Alex is hopeful we all continue to enjoy the arts and continue to laugh and live.

She is incredibly thankful for her family and friends who continue to support her throughout her acting journey.

Favorite theater credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour Jefferson Theatre), Legally Blonde Jr. (Kyle - SABT), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip - Jefferson Theatre), Proof (Robert - Jefferson Theatre),The Lightning Thief (Grover/Mr.D - SABT), and BOCÓN (Miguel - Bonham Theatre). He would like to thank his family and friends for their constant love and encouragement!


_0014_william.jpgWilliam T. Collins (Nicky) is excited to be a part of Avenue Q. Recent credits include The Imaginary Invalid as Thomas Diafoirus; Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet as Othello/Tybalt; and Stop Kiss, where he was double cast as Detective Cole/Peter. This play marks his return to musical theatre after nearly ten years, having been working extensively towards straight plays and screen acting. He is grateful to the cast, crew, and creative team, and thanks his family and friends for their continued support.

He would love nothing more than for his family and friends (other than Phil) to know that he loves them, and that he is on a path of no return.

TJ hopes to pursue stage management and technical theatre in the future and is thankful to be a part of this hilarious and impactful show. He would like to thank the cast and crew for always being willing to learn and try new things with a special thanks to the directors for putting their all into every rehearsal. This is his first time running lights for a show, and is excited at this new opportunity in technical theater. He has been a part of numerous shows over the years, but has recently been involved in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (scenic carpenter & spot op), and The Amazing, Fabulous, and Spectacular Untruths of Juan Garcia (Assistant Scenic Designer & Charge Artist) at NVC. He is thankful to his friends and family for all of their support!

as stage and prop manager. I would like to thank my family for their support and excitement of my new journey through college theater.


Ave Q bio photo web.jpgAedan Simcoe (Costumes) has a background that extends from Star Wars fan films and staged, choreographed fight scenes. He's used to making sure his peers' costumes, as well as his own costumes, are on correctly and tightly, so that they stay on during scenes and maintain screen accuracy at the same time. This is his first theater production, and what a show to start with! Although being green to the stage, Avenue Q calls for many quick change puppets! You can be the judge of whether or not he did well (wink). Maybe someday we might see him in a costume of his own soon on this very stage!

He has a passion for theatre in every aspect and is grateful for his first opportunity to be part of a production. He is working to ensure a seamless show for everyone to enjoy. He thanks his friends for encouraging him and supporting him in pursuing theatre opportunities one step at a time.


_0000_jose.jpgJose J. DeHoyos, Jr. (Director) is a Faculty Instructor with Northwest Vista College. He has been a Theatre educator and director in the San Antonio Area for the past 33 years. Jose is a graduate of Incarnate Word with a BA in Theatre, and has a ME from Grand Canyon University and a MA in Theatre from the University of Houston. He has trained with The Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, The Lincoln Center in New York City, and abroad with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Jose is an award winning director and is UIL Judge for One Act Play and Filmmaking. He has been a performer, stage manager and supervisor for both Sea World of Texas and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Jose has been recently seen on stage at the San Pedro Playhouse, The Classic Theatre, Teatro Audaz, and Players at the Pointe. He would like to welcome you to tonight’s show!


Ave Q bio photo web.jpgJosh Pepper (Musical Director) is a freelance pianist, private piano instructor and theater music director. Over the years, Mr. Pepper collected music degrees from Tennessee, Louisiana and nearly Texas. Locally, he has music directed dozens of shows. Most recently, Frozen at the San Pedro Playhouse. Mr. Pepper is a five-time ATAC Globe Award winner in the category of music direction. Much gratitude for supporting the arts and live entertainment!

Villa Jr. (Assistant Director) is excited to be serving in this role for a second time at Northwest Vista College where he is also currently serving as Visiting Lecturer in Drama. His other professional credits include San Pedro Playhouse: A Midsummer Night's Dream (Wall/Stage Manager), A Christmas Carol (Fred), Corpus Christi (Stage Manager), El Grande de Coca-Cola (Tio/Stage Manager). Our Lady of the Lake University: Taming of the Shrew (Servant) The House on Mango Street (Various Characters), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Servant). Saint Mary’s University: West Side Story (Diesel), and The Wonder Theater (formerly the Woodlawn Theater): Next to Normal (Stage Manager). His most recent credits include Assistant Director for Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet.


Ave Q bio photo web.jpgNathan Thurman (Technical Director) is in his 11th year as Tech Director with the Alamo Colleges. He also is a sought after Lighting Designer around town who has been nominated for ATAC awards for his productions around town. In his spare time he hangs out with Stella who thoroughly enjoys his recitations of Shakespearean sonnets and monologues.


_0002_joe lopez.jpgJoseph Lopez (Lighting Designer) is grateful to return to Northwest Vista for his 3rd lighting design. After retiring as a Technical Director from NISD, he began a technical theatrical consulting business to help theatre teachers learn about their own lighting and sound systems. While teaching, he taught Technical theatre for 24 years to over 2000 students. He would like to thank his wife Elizabeth and family for their support.


Ave Q bio photo web.jpgDaniel Mitchell (Auditorium Manager) has served as the Auditorium Manager at the Palmetto Center for the Arts for the past 7 years, assisting with various technical aspects. He's worked in many technical positions throughout his career, including sound designer, audio engineer, lighting designer, scenic carpenter, and rigger. He is always grateful to contribute to opportunities for students to grow and learn.
