- Ask questions about personal vocal concerns and challenges
- Learn strategies for maintaining vocal health during practice, performance, and daily life

Choral Celebration: Voices of HopeMonday, November 17 at 7:00pm
Palmetto Theatre • Free Admission
With heartfelt celebration, we acknowledge the tremendous success of our inaugural Alumni Connect event in Spring 2025—a milestone that brought together NVC Music Alumni in an inspiring display of talent, unity, and community spirit. Building on that memorable foundation, Dr. Lee is thrilled to continue this tradition with the next Alumni Connect: NVC Music Showcase Project this fall. We are delighted to welcome back NVC Music Alumnus Antonio Zubillaga, who will participate in this year’s event. The program will feature eight weeks of immersive Choral Workshops from September to November, as well as preparations for the TTCCDA Region V All-State Choir Auditions for advanced ensemble singers. Voices of Hope invites you on a choral journey exploring the resilience of the human spirit, the strength of community, and the transformative power of music to bring light into darkness. Each piece in the program provides a unique perspective on hope—whether it whispers in quiet moments, resounds in joyful praise, or lifts us skyward.
The program opens with “The Bird’s Lullaby” by Sarah Quartel, a gentle meditation on safety and serenity. Its natural imagery soothes the soul and sets a tone of reflection and quiet wonder. This is followed by Frank Ticheli’s “Earth Song,” a powerful and contemplative response to a world marked by conflict—affirming that music itself can be an agent of healing and peace. From there, the traditional Korean folk song “Doraji,” arranged by Yoojin Muhn, brings freshness and grace to the program with its simple melodic beauty and lilting rhythm. Gwyneth Walker’s “Let the Life I’ve Lived Speak for Me”, written for tenor-bass voices, adds a soulful and deeply personal expression of legacy and purpose.
“The Road Home” by Stephen Paulus continues this theme of seeking and belonging, inviting listeners into a musical reflection on return, memory, and emotional rest. Elaine Hagenberg’s “Alleluia” follows as a radiant outpouring of gratitude and praise—lyrical and luminous. Antonio Estévez’s “Mata del Anima Sola” provides a contrasting burst of rhythmic energy and vivid imagery, transporting us to the Venezuelan plains with expressive color and motion. The journey concludes with Jacob Narverud’s “Ad Astra”, a bold and buoyant celebration of aspiration and unity. Its title—to the stars—captures the concert’s central message: that even through struggle, we rise, we sing, and we hope together. Each selection in Voices of Hope reflects a different facet of perseverance and promise, culminating in a musical celebration of hope’s enduring power. -
NVC Concert Choir & Solo Performances
Lighthouse: Finding Our Way through SongDirected by Dr. Minkyung Lee
Wednesday, November 19 at 7:00pm
Palmetto Theatre • Free Admission
Like a lighthouse casting its glow over shifting waters, this fall’s NVC Concert Choir program invites listeners to navigate the landscapes of the heart—places where longing, courage, and joy all find their voice. Under Dr. Lee’s baton, Lighthouse: Finding Our Way Through Song becomes more than a concert; it is a journey illuminated by music’s power to guide us through uncertainty, anchor us in community, and point us toward the horizon. The program begins with the deep, steady current of Like a River in My Soul, a reminder of the grounding strength we carry within. In Uphill, Christina Rossetti’s timeless poetry walks alongside music that speaks to perseverance in the face of challenge. Wait With Me offers a moment of tender presence—standing together through the stillness of uncertainty—while My Lighthouse shines with gospel-inspired joy, a reminder that faith and community can guide us through the storm. The second half lifts its gaze toward light and hope. I Will Lift My Eyes moves like a prayer, drawing courage from stillness. Evocation lingers in the delicate space where memory meets longing, while When Dreams Take Flight reaches skyward, letting hope spread its wings. The journey closes with Jacob Collier’s shimmering Little Blue, a song of intimacy, connection, and wonder—a reminder that home is not always a place, but the people and moments we hold close. In a world that can often feel uncertain, Lighthouse serves as a musical compass—pointing us toward connection, resilience, and the light that carries us safely home. We warmly invite the community to join us for an evening of shared song, where every note offers a reminder that we navigate life’s waters best when we journey together.
