OCTOBER
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
Silent Witness Exhibit- October 2, 2023
Locations: Advocacy Center, FAC, MLC and NAHC
This exhibit consists of four red, life-sized silhouettes each representing a former student who has lost their life through an act of dating or domestic violence. The Silent Witness Project is a powerful means by which to educate our entire San Antonio College community about domestic violence.
Clothesline Project Display- October 9, 2023
Location: Loftin Student Center
This in-person display amplifies the voices of those silenced by violence and sends a powerful message of support for survivors. The T-shirts were decorated by San Antonio College students who were survivors of domestic violence or by a student who has lost a loved one to violence.
Keeping Ourselves Safe Presentation- October 13, 2023
Location: Empowerment Center
Time: 12pm- 1:30pm
Join us at the Empowerment Center for a presentation from a member of our Alamo Colleges police department who will provide information and resources on the topic of intimate partner violence and things we can do to protect ourselves on campus and at home. A former SAC student will share her own powerful survivor testimony.
Go Purple Day- October 19, 2023
Purple is the recognized awareness color for domestic violence. We encourage everyone to wear all things purple as a symbol of peace, courage, survival, honor, and personal dedication to domestic violence awareness. Stop by the Empowerment Center in your purple for a domestic violence awareness gift!

Celebrating Non-traditional students!- November 4, 2023
Location: The Empowerment Center
Time: 10am-12pm
Join us for breakfast tacos, music and fun as we celebrate the student population that juggles the competing responsibilities of work, family, and life while pursuing their educational goals here at San Antonio College.
Non-traditional student Scholarship workshop - November 8, 2023
Location: The Empowerment Center
Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm
The workshop is offered in partnership with Cafecollege and will focus on scholarships for non-traditional students.
