The Department of Fine Arts will host "Mediated Garden," a photography exhibit by artist and University of North Texas Distinguished Research Professor Dornith Doherty Wednesday, Sept. 12, to Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the Visual Arts Center Gallery.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the Visual Arts Center Gallery.

Doherty will also present "Archiving Eden," lecture at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the McAllister Fine Arts Auditorium, at the intersection of San Pedro Ave. and W. Courtland Pl. The event is free and open to the public.

In meticulously detailed prints of timeless Italian landscapes of citrus groves, hauntingly cavernous seed vaults of Svalbard, Norway, and expansive seed collections from the Netherlands to Brazil, Dornith Doherty's large-scale photographic prints explore global efforts to secure the survival of genetic diversity in wild and agricultural species.

Part of Fotoseptiembre, an annual international celebration of the photographic arts.
