SAC nursing student Devyn Sanchez, a member of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society, has received a scholarship to pay for study materials to prepare for the licensing exam given by the state of Texas.

Sanchez was one of only 15 PTK members nationally to have been awarded a Hurst Review NCLEX Scholarship.

The scholarship, funded by the national nursing exam prep company Hurst Review Services, is exclusively for PTK nursing majors who plan to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLX), a standardized exam that each state board uses to certify nursing students are ready to practice their profession.

The scholarship will pay for Hurst Review study materials and a cash award to cover the NCLEX exam fee.

Hurst Review is an educational services company based in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Since 1988, Hurst’s review course has helped hundreds of thousands of nursing students pass state board exams on the first attempt.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges and helping them to grow as scholars and leaders. The Society is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 nations.
