About Our Commencement

Planning to participate in our Spring 2026 commencement? Students who complete(d) their degree requirements in Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026 (and have a 2.0 minimum GPA) must meet with their assigned academic advisor for a degree review by the deadline. Students may participate in commencement if they have no more than two courses (6–8 credit hours) remaining to graduate. Students who apply for graduation after March 20th, 2026 may still participate in the commencement, but their names will not appear on the program.

Information about Parking Lots provided by San Antonio Alamodome:
The Alamodome generally operates four parking lots for events: A, B, C and D. Parking locations vary by date. For most shows, public parking is available in Lots B and C with accessible parking for guests with disabilities located in Lot A. Event specific information is available at www.alamodome.com

Driving Directions to Lots:

  • Lot A can be accessed via the northbound I-37 access road, between Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. and Montana Street.
  • Lot B and C can be accessed from the southbound lane of Cherry Street between Montana St. and Cesar E. Chavez Blvd.
  • Lot D is located on the west side of I-37 behind the Convention Center and can be accessed via Tower of the America's Way (southbound I-37 access road) between Montana St. and Cesar E. Chavez Blvd.

PLEASE NOTE: The ride share drop-off and pick-up zone is available for quick access in Lot D located at Tower of the America's Way (southbound I-37 access road) between Montana St. and Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. Map to 500 Tower of the America's Way, San Antonio, TX 78205. Please also note that during peak traffic times, northbound Cherry Street may be closed at Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., requiring southbound access from Commerce or Houston St.

What am I allowed to bring to the Alamodome?

What time should I arrive at the Alamodome?

Arrival & Check-In Instructions

  • Arrival & Check-In:
    Candidates must arrive at the Alamodome at 4:00 p.m.
    Check-in is required during this time.

  • Line-Up:
    5:15 p.m. – All candidates must be in place for the procession.

  • Procession:
    6:00 p.m. – Procession begins.
    Candidates arriving after 6:00 p.m. will remain in behind the stage until they are called to cross the stage.

What is the cost of parking for candidates and guests?

Alamodome Parking Fee: $25

Methods of payment accepted: credit cards
Cardholder must present valid identification for all credit card transactions.
No cash or check accepted as method of payment. 

Where can I park?

Parking lots B & C are available for parking during the commencement. Lots B & C can be accessed from the southbound lane of Cherry Street between Montana St. and César E. Chávez Blvd.

Parking lot A has a limited amount of accessible parking for guests with disabilities.

Lot A can be accessed via the northbound I-37 access road, between César E. Chávez Blvd. and Montana Street.

  • Be prepared for extensive walking. It is recommended to wear comfortable footwear.
  • Leave valuable (purses, etc.) with family or friends. There will not be a place to secure valuables.

After parking, where do I need to go?

Graduates and candidates please proceed to the SOUTH end of the Alamodome and enter through the Loading Dock entrance. Metal detectors will be used for your safety. In addition, bags will be searched prior to entering the facility.

In the Alamodome, what do I need to do?
  • Once you enter the Alamodome, there will be personnel directing you to the appropriate check in station. The check in stations will be inside the Alamodome behind the stage.
  • Immediately proceed to the check in station to pick up your name card.
  • Once you have checked in and have your name card in hand, please proceed to the seated waiting area behind the stage until you are called to lineup for the procession.
  • All names will be called. When you are called to the backstage area, please be sure to bring your name card with you.
  • As soon as you come off the stage, there will be Flash Photography to take your picture.
  • Following this, you will be directed back to your seat.
  • Students are required to remain in their seats throughout the entire ceremony. The ceremony will last approximately 2 - 2.5 hours.
When can my guests arrive at the Alamodome?

Public access to the Alamodome begins at 5:00 p.m. Guests should proceed to the north end of the Alamodome to enter through the main entrance. Please inform your guests that they will not be able to reserve seats. Seats are available to everyone on a first-come-first-served basis. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Diploma Questions

Do I have to attend the graduation ceremony to receive my degree?

No, you do not have to attend the graduation ceremony to receive a degree, but you do need to apply for graduation to have your degree reviewed before earning a degree.

When will I receive my diploma?

NVC diplomas will be mailed eight to ten working weeks after the official close of the term in which you have graduated.

What if I want to purchase a duplicate diploma or a reprint?

Students may request a reprint or duplicate diploma at the link below. The fee for each reprint is $25. To request a reprint or duplicate diploma, visit the Alamo Colleges Marketplace Mall at:
