NVC Alumnus Aims to Use Law Degree to Serve His Community
November 11, 2025
Northwest Vista College graduate Malachi Bravo has spent much of his life serving others. Malachi earned an Associate of Arts with a concentration in Business Management from NVC in 2017, while also serving in the Marine Corps Reserve. The 35-year-old San Antonio native, who was the first in his family to attend college, was so determined to reach his educational goals that it didn’t matter if he sometimes could only afford to take one class at a time.
After graduating from NVC, Malachi earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2021. This past May, he earned a doctorate in jurisprudence (JD) from St. Mary’s University School of Law. In October, he passed the Texas bar exam and achieved his goal of becoming an attorney. Now, Malachi plans to serve his community by assisting those who need free legal services.
“I chose to become an attorney so that I could have a positive impact on the community and help those in need,” he said. “I have only recently become an attorney, but while a student, I served as a student lawyer for St. Mary’s Legal Center for Social Justice, where I was able to provide free legal services and volunteer my time to the surrounding indigent community.”
Malachi credits NVC’s welcoming atmosphere and inspiring, supportive instructors and tutors with giving him the foundation and motivation needed to continue his educational goals.
“Without the tutoring labs and guidance from professors and advisors at NVC, I would not have been able to obtain my BA or JD and ultimately become an attorney.”
Malachi recently joined San Antonio law firm Chasnoff Stribling where he assists the Insurance Defense team that handles catastrophic personal injury cases. He said the firm practices in several fields including business litigation, coverage litigation, reinsurance, legal malpractice defense, and insurance defense.
His advice to students is to explore the countless opportunities and resources that colleges such as Northwest Vista provide.
“Community colleges offer a cost-effective and valuable education that allows students to build a solid educational foundation.”

Malachi Bravo is among the graduates whose stories are being highlighted as part of NVC’s 30th anniversary celebration.
