About Sabrina Hammel

My name is Sabrina Hammel. I am a Professor of Government at Northeast Lakeview College. I also serve as the Service-Learning Chair and community event advisor to the National Society for Leadership and Success.

As Service-Learning Chair, I organize community events that allow students to bridge what they learn in the classroom to real-world experiences. Community engagement will enable students to achieve real-world objectives while developing skills that cannot be taught in school. For example, in collaboration with County Commissioner Calvert, I have organized community projects to include the recent Spirit of Renewal, Community clean up, and resource expo, in the unincorporated community of the Glen, where, with the support of Northeast Lakeview College and 100 students, the NLC community, we collected 25.97 tons of debris in five hours.

I graduated with a doctorate in higher education leadership from National University, an MA in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University, an MA in Political Science and International Relations from St. Mary's University, and an MPA in Public Administration from St. Mary's University. I am passionate about developing students' interest in government, providing them with opportunities outside of the classroom, and fostering the desire to participate in politics because it impacts them.
