About Erik Anderson

I teach U.S. World and Texas history. I have a strong interest in local history and working with future Social Studies teachers. 

I am originally from Connecticut but did my undergraduate degree at Grinnell College in the corn fields of Iowa. After a few years working with at-risk youth in the Montana, I returned to New England and did my Masters and Doctorate at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.  There I studied U.S. Environmental and Cultural history as well as African Environmental History. While in graduate school I began teaching high school teachers and community college students. I found working with these two communities what I enjoyed doing the most.  In 2010 I began working at San Antonio College and in 2025 I joined NLC.
