About Our Commencement

Planning to participate in our 2025 FALL Commencement? Students who complete(d) their degree requirements in Spring 2025, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025 (and have a 2.0 minimum GPA) must meet with their assigned academic advisor for a degree review by the deadline.

Students who apply for graduation by Wednesday, October 15, 2025 will have their name printed in the NVC Commencement program. Students who apply for graduation after this date, may still participate in the commencement ceremony, however their names will not appear on the printed program.

Graduate Parking:

Each graduate was assigned (one) bright orange parking pass while picking up their commencement regalia. This pass allows users to park in Lot 9 free of charge. Please be sure to bring this pass with you to park in Lot 9 (see diagram below) .

  • If graduates are dropped off early, guests may use the graduate parking pass to park in Lot 9 (see diagram below) free of charge.
  • All persons without a parking pass must use either Lot 1 or 2 (see diagram below) accessible via Gate B entrance off of East Houston St. 

*Venue parking charge is $15.00, payable by card only and may be subject to change*

Graduate Information:

Eligible graduates can pick up graduation regalia at the DWWC Advising office (or send someone on their behalf to pick up the regalia) during normal business hours M-F 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m..

What time should I arrive at the Freeman Coliseum?

Arrival & Check-In Instructions

  • Arrival & Check-In:
    Graduates and candidates must arrive at the Freeman Coliseum between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
    Check-in is required during this time.

  • Line-Up:
    6:15 p.m. – All graduates and candidates must be in place for the procession.

  • Procession:
    7:00 p.m. – Procession begins.
    Students arriving after 7:00 p.m. will remain in Expo Hall 2 waiting area until their group is called to cross the stage.

Where can I park?

Upon entering through the West Gate, graduates and candidates must present their parking pass to the gate attendant for entry.

Where can my guests park?

Guests can park in lots 1 & 2 for $15.

What is the cost of parking for guests?

Freeman Coliseum Parking Fee: $15

Methods of payment accepted: credit cards
Cardholder must present valid identification for all credit card transactions.
No cash or check accepted as method of payment. 

I'm a graduate. After parking, where do I need to go?

Once you have parked your vehicle proceed to the NORTH end of the Coliseum and take an immediate left to enter Expo Hall 2.

Please refer to the Bag Policy & Restricted Items and make sure that you are following the guidelines, including allowed bag sizes and items not allowed (see below).

Once grads are inside Expo Hall 2 of the Freeman Coliseum, what do we need to do?
  • Once you enter the Expo Hall 2, immediately proceed to the check-in station to pick up your name card.
  • Once you have checked in and have your name card in hand, please continue to the seating waiting area until you are called to line up for the procession.
  • All names will be called as you cross the stage.
  • When you are called backstage, please be sure to bring your name card with you.
  • As soon as you come off the stage, Flash Photography will to take your picture.
  • Then return to your seat.


Students are required to remain in their seats throughout the entire ceremony.
The ceremony will last approximately 2 - 2.5 hours.

When can my guests arrive at the Freeman Coliseum?

Public access to the Freeman Coliseum begins at 6:00 p.m. Guest will enter through the main entrance.  Please inform your guests that they are not allowed to save seats for friends and family who arrive at a later time.  Seats are available to everyone on a first come first served basis. The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Services for Graduates with Disabilities (Special Accommodations)

Degree candidates who need accommodations to participate in their Commencement Ceremony, are asked to send an email to nvc-graduation@alamo.edu to discuss accommodation possibilities with the appropriate Commencement Staff.

Freeman Coliseum Accessibility/ADA Services for Guests and Graduates

All Freeman Coliseum parking lots offer limited accessible parking spaces on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is recommended. A disabled parking permit is required, and any visitor with a veteran license plate can park free of charge.

Diploma FAQs

Do I have to attend the graduation ceremony to receive my degree?

No, you do not have to attend the graduation ceremony to receive a degree, but you do need to apply for graduation to have your degree reviewed before earning a degree.

When will I receive my diploma?

NVC diplomas will be mailed eight to ten working weeks after the official close of the term in which you have graduated.

What if I want to purchase a duplicate diploma or a reprint?

Students may request a reprint or duplicate diploma at the link below. The fee for each reprint is $25. To request a reprint or duplicate diploma, visit the Alamo Colleges Marketplace Mall at:
