NVC Celebrated Its First Dual Credit Commencement

May 18, 2026

Northwest Vista College (NVC) celebrated a major milestone in student success and workforce readiness on May 18 with its first Dual Credit Commencement Ceremony at the Palmetto Center for the Arts.

The ceremony recognized high school students who had completed college credentials, including associate degrees and workforce certificates, before receiving their high school diplomas. The event highlighted the growing impact of early college pathways across the region.

Among the graduates were 36 students from Boerne ISD Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) who completed 60 college credit hours while still in high school. While many dual credit students complete a semester or more of college coursework, these students completed the equivalent of two full years of college before high school graduation.

In addition, 22 students from the Northside School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (NSITE) at Holmes High School completed workforce certificates in Information Security and digital forensics. Together, these students represented the growing strength of Northwest Vista College’s partnerships with school districts to create clearer and faster pathways into college and high-demand careers.

Many students graduated not only with college degrees, but also with industry-recognized credentials in cybersecurity, cloud computing, information assurance, digital forensics, and foundational IT systems. By accelerating progress toward degrees and workforce credentials, students and families saved significant tuition costs while gaining an early start toward careers in some of the fastest-growing sectors of the Texas economy.

“Students across our region are proving what is possible when they have early access to college, industry experiences, and clear pathways into high-demand careers,” said Northwest Vista College President Dr. Amy Bosley. “Through partnerships with school districts and industry, we are creating opportunities for students to earn meaningful credentials, build confidence, and connect directly to the industries shaping the future. This work is about expanding opportunity, accelerating economic mobility, and helping more students see themselves as leaders and innovators in our community.”
