NVC Honors Students Explore Mestizaje at Mission San José
November 2, 2026
Dr. Corina Gonzales-Stout recently took her Honors History 1301 class to Mission San José, where students continued exploring the theme of mestizaje and its importance in San Antonio’s culture. Earlier this year, students toured the Bexar County Clerk’s Spanish Archives as part of a research project examining an aspect of mestizaje in American history through 1877.
The NVC Honors Academy is designed to challenge high-achieving students to broaden their perspectives and fully engage with their coursework, campus, and community. The program, which requires applicants to have a minimum GPA of 3.25, offers unique opportunities, including field study and applied research; engaging coursework in small, collaborative classes; and direct mentoring from dedicated NVC faculty.
