Graduate, Alumni, Employee

Photo - Ashton PageI began my journey with NVC during the summer semester of 2024 after moving across town. I had completed my freshmen year at SAC fully remote and wanted to be more connected to campus for my sophomore year. From my very first interaction with the NVC staff, I felt welcomed on campus. And for the first time in my higher education experience, I felt like I belonged on campus. I loved my time as a student, and my only wish is that it could have lasted longer than just one year.

As an NVC student, I became involved in student leadership, where I learned soft skills I will use my entire career. I joined the faculty student mentor program, and to this day, I still keep in contact with my mentor. And most importantly, my time at NVC gave me clarity on what I want to do with my life.

I graduated with my Associate of Arts in May of 2025. I'm now a junior at UT San Antonio studying psychology and a part-time administrative associate in the Events department at NVC. My time at NVC taught me that I'm capable of doing hard things, excelling in college-level coursework, and overcoming my fears (as I like to say, "Do it scared"). As I finish my bachelor's degree and apply to Ph.D. programs, I realize I could not have gotten this far without the support of NVC's faculty and staff. They saw my potential before I could see it myself and pushed me to do my best. Even on my hardest days, when I doubted my abilities the most, my professors and advisors encouraged me to succeed. This school truly does what they say— create opportunities for success. I am forever grateful for my time here.

Go Wildcats!
