Northwest Vista College students who have children or other dependents have many responsibilities. Whether you are a parent and/or guardian, our mission is to help you reach your educational, career, and personal goals by removing barriers and providing a village of support.

The NVC Parenting Student Liaison Officer serves students who are parents or guardians of children under 18 and provides a range of resources to meet their needs that includes accommodations, promoting accessibility, privacy, and a comprehensive approach to support the academic and personal success of parenting students.
Request Forms for Student Parent Accommodations
Pregnant Student Accommodations Form (Under Title IX, pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions are considered temporary disabilities for which reasonable accommodations or adjustments may be provided.)

On-Campus Childcare Centers
The Alamo Colleges have nationally accredited, high-quality child development centers at three of our colleges. These resources are available to students attending any of the Alamo Colleges. Payment assistance and subsidized rates are available for qualifying students.

NVC Free Evening & Saturday Childcare
Are you taking classes at Northwest Vista College this SPRING 2026? We’ve got you covered!
NVC parenting students may qualify for FREE recurring and/or drop-in childcare—
so you can focus on your education while we take care of the rest.
Types of Childcare Services:
-Recurring Services: Child/ren will be dropped off on the same days each week due to class schedules
-Drop-In services: Child/ren will be dropped off at least 3 times a month so you can access campus resources, services, activities/events, facilities, etc.
Priority Consideration: requests from NVC students enrolled in at least one NVC on-campus evening/Saturday class will be taken into consideration first for recurring and drop- in services. Additional NVC parenting students enrolled in NVC classes (includes online classes) may request drop-in childcare services to access on-campus support and services.
🧒 Who’s Eligible?
- Children age 5–13 years old
- NVC Parenting Students who have submitted a NVC Childcare Request form and received approval. A separate request is required each semester.
- Additional YMCA enrollment requirements will be emailed to approved NVC parenting students.

- Monday–Thursday: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

YMCA Day camps services for School District Closure Days:
Available for NVC parenting students who have scheduled classes during designated days. Emails are sent out to all NVC parenting students through nvc-parenting@alamo.edu with request links for each camp date.

This opportunity is made possible through a partnership between Northwest Vista College and the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. Childcare will be provided by trained YMCA staff on the NVC campus.
NVC Parenting Students are required to remain on campus while childcare services are being provided.

Powerhouse TnT Gymnastics Early Learning Center
This summer, Powerhouse TntT gymnasitcs has partnered with NVC to offer an Early Learning Program for children ages 3-5. This opportuniy will be located at the Powerhouse location and NVC parenting students may request assistnace with registration and summer costs. The deadline to apply for assistance is May 1st.

Health Care Services
Primary health care services are available to students enrolled at any of the Alamo Colleges through Wellness 360 clinics, in partnership with UT Health San Antonio. Available to students with and without health insurance, the program will provide treatment for allergies, colds, and other minor health issues.

Priority Registration
Under Texas S.B. 459 which took effect September 1, 2023, institutions providing early registration for any student populations shall provide early registration for parenting students in the same manner. Parenting student: a student enrolled at an institution of higher education who is the parent or legal guardian of a child under 18 years of age.

Advising
Advising is a family friendly environment. You are welcome to bring your children with you to your appointment.
Textbook Rentals
AlamoBOOKS+ provides easy textbook rentals for eligible students through Barnes & Noble College, so students can have all required books and other instructional materials by the first day of class.

Technology Resources
Technology resources, such as laptops rentals, are available for any currently enrolled Alamo Colleges student in need of reliable computer access. These resources are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Laptops are available for students.Loaner laptop computers are available for immediate checkout to assist students, while equipment lasts and is available. |
Students should contact their home college’s Information Technology department during their hours of operation (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.).
Scholarships & Grants
The Alamo Colleges Foundation distributes financial awards from nearly 20 academic scholarship funds to support students raising children or other dependents. By submitting just one application each academic year, students with children will be considered for these scholarships and many more.
