Online Learning Checklist

This checklist provides important steps to help students prepare for and succeed in online courses at San Antonio College.

Before Classes Start

  • Access your ACES Portal to verify enrollment and payment information.
  • Review your course syllabus to understand course requirements, expectations, and policies.
  • Access your student email account and check it regularly.
  • Email your instructor with any questions about course materials or expectations.
  • Purchase required textbooks and materials through the bookstore or instructor-recommended sources.
  • Ensure you have access to a reliable internet connection and a modern web browser.
  • Contact technical support if needed:
  • Attend an online learning orientation workshop if available.

First Week of Class

  • Log in to your course as soon as the semester begins.
  • If you experience login issues, contact technical support or email your instructor.
  • Review course materials, announcements, and instructions.
  • Ask your instructor questions about assignments or expectations.
  • Visit campus support services if you need assistance.

During the Semester

  • Log in to your course multiple times each week.
  • Stay current with announcements, lectures, and assignments.
  • Participate in required and optional discussions.
  • Plan ahead for exams and review any proctoring requirements.
  • Contact your instructor if you need clarification or support.
  • Check your student email regularly and respond to messages.
  • Schedule regular study time each week for readings and assignments.
  • Use available tools such as calendars and reminders to stay organized.
