Environmental Justice Poetics Workshop

Kamala Platt will first introduce her new book Environmental Justice Poetics: Cultural Representations from Chicanas and Women in India. Through an introduction to Environmental Justice Poetics we will examine general concepts related to expressive poetics and environmental racism and justice, and processes for studying (and creating) environmental justice cultural poetics. Then we will look more deeply into the messages relayed by Chipko Movement poetry and performance, values, and strategies, and think about what their work teaches us in San Antonio, today and in encouraging climate justice now and in the future.
