Parenting Students

Education and policy nonprofit Generation Hope awarded San Antonio College the FamilyU Seal of Approval. This honor recognizes the college’s commitment to supporting student parents and creating a family-friendly campus environment.
The FamilyU Seal is a national certification awarded to colleges and nonprofit organizations that demonstrate measurable efforts to support parenting students.
Students raising children or other dependents have many responsibilities. Whether you are a parent, guardian or caretaker, the Alamo Colleges District recognizes the unique challenges parenting students face while pursuing their educational and career goals.
Access to college means more than academic support. We are committed to helping remove barriers that may prevent students from reaching their goals.
Texas Education Code §51.982 (SB 459) extends early registration eligibility to parenting students when early registration is offered to any group of students.
Advocacy
As part of a districtwide commitment to student success, on-campus advocacy centers are available at all Alamo Colleges to assist students with resources beyond the classroom.
For assistance with food, clothing, childcare, utility support or mental health counseling, contact the Student Advocacy Center Helpline.
