Dr. Tonya Maunsell Named Interim Director of Nursing Program

Dr. Tonya Maunsell has been appointed interim director for the associate registered nursing program. She replaces Stella Cirlos, who retired this semester. Previously she served as the coordinator for the nursing program and is an assistant professor of nursing.

Tonya Maunsell web.jpgAs interim director, she will lead in the administration and operation of the program. Her duties will include reviewing and revising courses and clinical facilities; providing technical program information and assistance to faculty, administrators, staff, clinical agencies, and health facilities; and overseeing the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of the recruiting of faculty and staff in the program.

Maunsell has a doctorate in nursing practice educational leadership from American Sentinel University in Aurora, Colo. She received a master of science in nursing administration from Independence University in Salt Lake City, Utah, and an associate of applied science in nursing from San Antonio College. In addition, she earned a bachelor of science in food nutrition from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

She is a member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association, the Texas Geriatric Society, and the American Nurses Association. She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
