Message from the President
It is indeed an honor and privilege to enter my ninth year as president of St. Philip’s College. I began my service on March 1, 2007 – the 109th birthday of this great institution. We are excited that you have sought out this legendary college to pursue your career goals.
St. Philip’s College has a very rich history that began in 1898 by such visionary giants as Bishop James Steptoe Johnston, the founder of our college, and Artemisia Bowden, who for 52 years provided unparalleled leadership in advancing this institution.
As we move forward in our second century of student empowerment and educational excellence, I invite you to explore, discover, and pursue all educational possibilities that St. Philip’s has to offer.
Explore the endless possibilities for expanding your vision and dreams.
Discover new career options, we offer 172 degrees and certificate programs.
Pursue your passions for personal growth and development. We have 118 years of history and legacy to propel us forward. In order to continue our trajectory of growth and development, we will honor our history and legacy through a credible and compelling leadership agenda.
We will honor our standing as a Historically Black College. We will honor our standing as a Hispanic Serving Institution. We will honor our commitment to providing clear pathways that will empower our students to compete and sustain themselves in a global society.
It is with clarity of purpose, a collaborative learning culture, and a focus on results that the faculty, staff and administration commit ourselves to your success. As we celebrate our past and move towards new chapters in the history of St. Philip’s College, may your experiences here be rewarding, memorable and inspiring!
