The Alamo Colleges District Veterans Affairs Offices are providing advising and benefit certification services to our students remotely due to the ongoing COVID 19 situation.  Please contact your home campus VA office by email or phone by using the information found in the “Contact Us” tab below.  The VA has provided some guidance pertaining to the payment of housing allowance for students who have had all of their courses converted to online courses as a result of COVID 19 campus closures as follows:

You may also email your assigned VA advisor for information on how to submit your requests to have your courses certified or nlc-va@alamo.edu for general information.  Please be aware that all advising appointments are being conducted remotely and your advisor will work with you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Veterans Center FAQ

The Veterans Center helps all eligible veterans obtain financial assistance and information on Texas and Federal Veterans Benefits while they attend Northeast Lakeview College. The college participates in educational programs provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Priority registration each semester is for all currently enrolled students.

Texas Hazlewood Exemption

Hazlewood Exemption 

The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption at public institutions of higher education in Texas. This does NOT include living expenses, books, or supply fees.

Texas Hazlewood Exemption Process

    • Copy of DD-214- Member 4
    • Hazlewood Exemption application (https://www.tvc.texas.gov/education/hazlewood-act/ )
    • Copy of Certificate of eligibility (https://www.vets.gov/) (only if active after 2001)
    • Proof of online Hazlewood Database Registration ( www.tvc.texas.gov)
    • Valid Texas ID (must be Texas resident)
    • Copy of Detailed Student Schedule (ACES account)
    • Copy of Account Summary (ACES account)
    • GPS PDF Guide (ACES account)
    • Veterans must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for the institution
    •  Must maintain a 2.0 GPA to utilize the Hazlewood Exemption
    • Copy of DD-214-Member 4
    • Hazlewood Exemption application (https://www.tvc.texas.gov/education/hazlewood-act/)
    • Copy of Certificate of eligibility (https://www.vets.gov/) (only if active after 2001)
