Current NVC Students Encouraged to Participate in Two Contests

Winners of Each Contest Can Earn $1,000

Northwest Vista College is a member of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), committed to promoting and celebrating excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership at community and technical colleges. NVC’s membership supports NISOD’s effort to bring together faculty, administrators and staff to share best practices that improve student achievement. Students at NISOD member colleges can participate in two NISOD contests.

Student Essay Contest for $1,000

Students will get to travel to the International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence in Austin, Texas  on May 25-28. The winner will have three nights lodging paid for and conference registration. Winners will read their essay at the conference on Sunday, May 26th.

To participate in the contest, students need to submit a 500-word (or less) essay about a faculty member, staff member or administrator who encouraged them to complete a course, finish a semester or graduate from college and how that encouragement helped the student reach his/her goals. Student Graphic Design Contest also for $1,000

Students will design the official Conference Program for NISOD’s 2024 International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence. Students who win the contest get to travel to Austin and get up to $400 paid toward travel to the NISOD conference.
