What to Expect During a Tutoring Session
- Bring the assignment directions/prompt and relevant readings and notes to your session.
- After introductions, you and your tutor will have a conversation about your writing concerns and identify a goal for your session.
- The tutor will ask questions and provide guidance as you make decisions about your writing. We encourage students to ask for clarification throughout the session.
- After your session, your tutor will record details in AlamoNAVIGATE and request that you complete the post-session student satisfaction survey.
Lab Policies
- We request that students schedule tutoring sessions at least one day in advance of the assignment deadline to allow time to incorporate the tutor’s feedback.
- Please apply feedback between appointments to ensure that you are developing as a writer.
- For Zoom tutoring appointments, please log on within 15 minutes of the scheduled start to avoid a cancellation.
- Students who are working on take-home midterm or final exams must have instructor permission to work on these assignments at the ENGL Lab.
