Celebrating NVC STEM Students!

July 27, 2023

PLUS STEM Students

The PLUS+STEM Symposium and Awards Ceremony celebrated its recent graduates at Northwest Vista College on July 27.

Students were recognized with awards and presented research posters from current internships and experiential learning through NVC and local businesses, such as Southwest Research Institute, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, Terracon Geotechnical Testing Lab, Texas A&M University – San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and UT Health Science Center San Antonio.

Topics for student presentations were about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and include areas such as aerospace, biology, chemistry, IT, engineering, data science, engineering, programming, and robotics.

The students took part in the PLUS+STEM Project which was awarded $5 million from the Department of Education (ED) in 2022 to help alleviate the burden of paying for education by providing stipends of up to $4,200 while students learn career experience in STEM fields.
