Places High Priority on Communication with Internal and External Stakeholder Groups

(San Antonio, TX) – Dr. Amy Bosley began her position as Northwest Vista College (NVC) president on Mon., July 17, with leadership meetings at the Alamo Colleges Center for Excellence for Student Success (ACCESS). In the afternoon, she was welcomed by NVC students, faculty and staff, some of whom presented Dr. Bosley with special NVC and San Antonio mementos to share their college pride and San Antonio culture. NVC mascot Wildcat Willie shared his Vista hugs and gave high fives.

Known as an innovative higher education administrator with extensive teaching experience in communication and business as well as human resources expertise, Dr. Bosley is placing high priority on communication with numerous internal and external stakeholder groups. She and her team have put together a comprehensive communication plan that includes nearly 40 meetings and events, many of which will occur before and at the start of the fall semester.

“Communication is important to me and it’s important to the students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Bosley. “As Northwest Vista College embarks on a new strategic plan and approaches its 30th anniversary, NVC students, faculty and staff will co-create the next chapter of the college’s story together. We want to build on NVC’s foundation to advance our mission of excellence in student access and success,” she added.

Dr. Bosley spent most of her career in Central Florida at Valencia College, where she served in numerous capacities, with the most recent role as Vice President for Institutional Planning, Development, and as Chief of Staff at Valencia College in Central Florida. A tenured professor, Dr. Bosley is an Aspen Presidential Fellow and contributes to local, state, and national organizations. She has senior leadership experience in strategic planning, accreditation and resource development.

She was approved unanimously on May 16 as NVC’s president by the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees. She is succeeding NVC Interim President Debi Gaitan, who has served in that capacity since October 2022 and who spearheaded the presidential search and selection process.

Dr. Bosley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication and a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Central Florida as well as a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership, with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership and Human Resources from Nova Southeastern University, Ft.
