Canvas Tools-Pick Your Topics

This session is a hands on workshop focused on the essential tools and activities needed for faculty who teach students Face-to-Face in the traditional classroom setting. During this session we will discuss the critical portions of Canvas that faculty need to get started using Canvas as a supplement to their classroom instruction.  We will also personalize the session by asking you to pick your topics that you would like to focus on.

Objectives and examples of topics that could be covered based on participants needs:

  • Set up your Canvas profile
  • Navigate through the Canvas interface with ease
  • Set up your Weighted Assignment Groups for the Grade book
  • Learn to use Discussions, Assignments, or Quizzes tools in Canvas
  • Migrate content from one Canvas course to another

We recommend you bring the following electronic items on a flash drive to enhance your training experience during this session:

  • Welcome page with introduction statement for course
  • Faculty Office or virtual hours and contact information
  • Announcement for your students on upcoming course activity
  • Email statement that you want to send to the entire class
  • Syllabus or class schedule
  • Any course files to provide to your students (PowerPoint, Word, PDF, etc.)
