The Alamo Colleges District has partnered with the City of San Antonio to launch the Train for Jobs SA Program, a training and education program designed to get people back to work.

 

What is
Train for Jobs SA?

Train for Jobs SA offers programs for displaced workers seeking to build new skills in high-demand career areas. This program provides assistance to those in hospitality, food service, and retail which were hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Once admitted, participants will receive free tuition and stipends while participating in approved training programs.

Additional support programs include skills and career assessments, high school equivalency preparation, short-term and long-term training.

Eligibility Requirements

1. You are a City of San Antonio resident

Please provide documentation with one of the following:

Utility bill
Driver's license
Proof of residency from a homeless shelter

2. You are negatively affected financially by the COVID-19 pandemic

Requirements:

Confirm that you have been affected by COVID-19.
No documentation is required.

This is a comprehensive program designed to teach students the skills and abilities essential to general operations and business management. Graduates will complete a wide range of coursework to include cybersecurity, sales, customer relationship management (CRM), accounting fundamentals, HR topic areas such as workplace violence, diversity and inclusion, and talent management. The program concludes with a course in the predominate business collaboration tool (Microsoft Outlook) and a 5-day capstone which prepares them for the Project Management Institute’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification.

This is a comprehensive program designed to teach students the skills and abilities needed to enter the workforce as an associate (entry-level) in human resource (HR) management. Graduates will learn about many of functional areas of HR through short 1-day courses with a culmination of the program in a 5-day capstone which prepares them for the SHRM Essentials of Human Resources credential.

The course prepares students with the basic skills required in cardiac monitoring to successfully complete the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) CRAT exam. The course is 100% online and completed in 4 weeks. A verification letter upon successful completion is provided to the student.

The 12-week program is designed to prepare students to successfully pass the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) State of Texas exam and directly enter the exciting field of dentistry. The program also provides a “hands-on” experience at a dentist's office.
