Tuition-free AlamoPROMISE now available for charter, private, and home school grads for 2023

Charter, private, and home school class of 2023 graduates will now be able to sign up for the AlamoPROMISE program through an online ‘Save Your Seat’ form, the Alamo Colleges District announced today.

The Alamo Colleges District recently announced the expansion of the “last-dollar” scholarship program for the class of 2023 graduates of charter, private, and home schools in Bexar County at a special board meeting on July 15.

In partnership with local government and community partners, AlamoPROMISE provides tuition along with mandatory fees to eligible students who plan to earn an associate degree, certification, courses for transfer, or workforce training at one of the five Alamo Colleges: Northeast Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, San Antonio College, and St. Philip’s College. The program was previously open to graduates from 73 participating high schools and programs across 20 area-school districts.

“This expansion of AlamoPROMISE to this new student population builds off of an already-successful program,” said Alamo Colleges District Chancellor, Dr. Mike Flores. “We know that all students in San Antonio deserve the opportunity to flourish and be successful. By giving students a step up on their educational journey, we are accelerating the elimination of poverty through education in our community.”

Promise-AskMe499x331.jpgQualifying students must ‘save their seat’ and meet all program requirements, including completing applications for admissions and financial aid application (FAFSA or TASFA) for the Fall 2023 term. AlamoPROMISE covers the cost of tuition and fees for up to three years or until the completion of an associate degree program, whichever comes first, after all other forms of financial aid have been applied to a student’s account.

Space is limited and eligibility is determined on a first-come, first-served basis so students are encouraged to submit their ‘Save Your Seat’ form, apply for admissions, and complete financial aid for the Fall 2023 term as soon as possible.

In addition to tuition assistance, AlamoPROMISE Scholars have access to wraparound services such as advising, career services, mental and physical healthcare, financial assistance, and other issues that present barriers to completing a college education.
