In the interest of financial transparency and fiduciary responsibility, the Alamo Colleges District is providing the public with the following information.

The Alamo Colleges District strives to make higher education readily affordable to its citizens with a goal to make efforts to keep its tax rates as low as possible. For 2023, at their meeting on September 12, 2023, the Alamo Colleges District’s Board of Trustees approved the proposed property tax rate of $0.149150 ($0.107760 for Maintenance & Operations and $0.04139 for Debt Service) per $100 of valuation.

Although the property tax rates are unchanged from the prior year, because of the increases in property values, the calculated No-New-Revenue rate is lower than the adopted rate. The adopted tax rate will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 6.19 percent and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $6.28. This is the maintenance and operations component of the Combined No-New-Revenue tax rate. The adopted Combined tax rate will exceed the No-New-Revenue tax rate by 9.27 percent and will raise combined taxes on a $100,000 home by approximately $12.66.

A taxpayer’s individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of property relative to the change in taxable value of all other property and the adopted tax rate.
