Learning to Lead Program

The NVC Learning to Lead program (L2L) is designed to provide FREE opportunities for NVC Students to develop and enhance personal, leadership and professional skills. Through this program, students are able to participate in both face-to-face trainings as well as online trainings, assessments, and services.

To access the L2L program, click here to visit the NVC Learning to Lead portal in AlamoEXPERIENCE.

Through the L2L portal, you will have access to trainings, lectures and assessments provided by the L2L program, NVC departments and programs, District programs and chartered organizations.  All events listed in the L2L Events section within the L2L portal in AlamoEXPERIENCE will satisfy certificate requirements. 

You may participate in just one training or complete more to earn L2L certificates!

Below are the instructions on how to access the trainings, assessments, and other opportunities through L2L. While looking over the portal, if you have any questions, contact NVC-L2L@alamo.edu and let us know!

 

To complete the L2L trainings, assessments and other opportunities:

You must first "Sign In" to AlamoEXPERIENCE to see all of the trainings.
The Sign-in button can be found at the top right.

Join the L2L portal in AlamoExperience for full access to all of the opportunities!  
Just click on the blue "Join" button on the right!

 

Once you have joined the L2L portal in AlamoEXPERIENCE,
you will have access to the following:

Online Trainings & Assessments: Online trainings and assessment can be accessed through the L2L All Events tab in the portal. Be sure to click on View More Events to see all options.  Online trainings are available for access throughout the entire year, 24/7. Please allow up to 5 business days for attendance credit to update on your Experience Transcript. The Career Assessment with Focus 2, Career Exploration with Focus 2, and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator are all only offered online.

Virtual Trainings:  Virtual trainings can be found in the L2L All Events tab below. Be sure to click on View More Events to see all options.  Some trainings may be hosted by other NVC programs or departments. You will receive Leadership and Professional Development credit toward L2L certificates for all events listed in the L2L Events tab. Please allow up to 5 business days for attendance credit to update on your Experience Transcript.

 

Resume Review Request (required for the Tier I Certification):

This opportunity is available for access throughout the entire year. Please allow 5-7 business days for return of your reviewed resume, and once you submit your reviewed resume, the credit will be listed on your Alamo Colleges Experience Transcript. Community Service Opportunities and/or Report Service
(required for the Tier II Certification and Tier III Certification):

Visit the NVC Serves portal to find remote or alternative service opportunities as well as instructions on how to upload your service documentation. Click HERE for more information on service through NVC Serves.

 

Access your Alamo Colleges Experience Transcript (required for all Certifications):

Click HERE for instructions on how to access and download your Alamo Colleges Experience Transcript.

 

L2L Leadership Certificates:

For certificate requirements and to submit your application, review the requirements and click on the links below. There is no deadline for application submissions. Certificate awards will be listed on your Alamo Colleges Experience Transcript (scroll up for transcript download instructions).

Participants will receive Leadership, Professional and Personal Development credit on their Alamo Colleges Experience Transcript for all completed activities.   

If it has been more than 5 business days since training/assessment completion and you are still missing credit on your Experience Transcript, please contact NVC-L2L@alamo.eduBe sure to include: the name of the training, assessment or service credit that is missing, and date that it was competed.


L2L CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS

TIER I CERTIFICATE

The Tier I Certificate is completely online and is free to all students.

- Complete 10 hours of L2L Leadership, Professional, and Personal Development trainings/opportunities

- Complete the Career Assessment with Focus 2

- Complete a Resume Review     

 

TIER II CERTIFICATE

The Tier II Certificate is completely online and free to all students.

- L2L Tier I certificate received

- Complete 5 additional hours of L2L Leadership, Professional, and Personal Development trainings/opportunities (15 total)

- Complete 1 hour Myers Briggs Type Indicator Assessment (MBTI)

- Complete the Career Exploration with Focus 2

 

TIER III CERTIFICATE

The Tier III Certificate and its concentrations are completely online and free to all students.

There are 3 concentrations towards this certificate that you may choose from, you can even complete all three!

Conflict Resolution

- L2L Tier II Certificate received

- Completion of 5 additional hours of Community Service (Alternative Community Service is accepted)

- Completion of Conflict Resolution Response Questions

- Completion of the 5 concentration specific trainings. If you have already completed one or more of these trainings, choose any additional L2L trainings to complete the 5 additional hours. These trainings include: Emotional Intelligence - The Other Key to Academic Success, Stress Management Techniques, The Science of Happiness & Well-Being, How to Work in Groups: Creating a Productive & Positive Learning Experience, How to Achieve Well-Being, Balance, & Success.

Change Leadership

- L2L Tier II Certificate received

- Completion of 5 additional hours of Community Service (Alternative Community Service is accepted)

- Completion of Change Leadership Response Questions

- Completion the 5 concentration specific trainings. If you have already completed one or more of these trainings, choose any additional L2L trainings to complete the 5 additional hours. These trainings include: The Future of Work: Packaging Yourself for the Changing Job Market, Developing Critical Thinking Skills, Difficult Conversations, Discover your Learning Style Preferences, Effectively Communicating Online

Diversity & Inclusion

-  L2L Tier II Certificate received

- Completion of 5 additional hours of Community Service (Alternative Community Service is accepted)

- Completion of Diversity & Inclusion Response Questions

- Completion the 5 concentration specific trainings. If you have already completed one or more of these trainings, choose any additional L2L trainings to complete the 5 additional hours. These trainings include: 10 Habits of Mind, How to Develop Your Cross-Cultural Skills, Sexual Violence Awareness & Prevention, Student Veterans, Mental Health & Suicide.
