The Alamo Colleges District is proud to announce that all five of its colleges – Northeast Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, San Antonio College, and St. Philip’s College – have received the Gold Veteran Education Excellence Recognition Award from the Texas Veterans Commission for 2025.

This prestigious designation recognizes colleges and universities that provide outstanding support for student veterans and military-connected students, including dependents and spouses. Institutions are honored at Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels, with Gold being the highest level of distinction.

“Our veterans and their families have earned more than our gratitude, they’ve earned our support,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. “We’re proud all five of our colleges are a place where military-connected students find purpose, community, and the opportunity to build strong futures.”

Located in Military City, USA, the Alamo Colleges serve more than 5,700 veteran-connected students and remain a leading provider of workforce training. The colleges offer Veterans Assistance Centers, dedicated one-stop hubs providing wraparound services such as early and priority registration, fee waivers, veteran-focused academic advising, and VA work-study opportunities.

High-demand programs such as nursing, public service, and technology continue to attract veteran learners seeking to apply their skills and leadership in civilian careers across the Alamo Colleges.
