At a board meeting held Saturday, June 14, 2025, the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees approved a $1 billion all-funds revenue budget for fiscal year 2025-2026, which includes an operating budget of $558.9 million.

As a high school student, Yarexy Hernandez discovered her passion for math, science, and criminology. Encouraged by her mother’s advice to “dream big,” Yarexy set her sights high and hoped to one day make a meaningful impact as a forensic pathologist for the FBI. Although her future was clear, she knew she’d need the right support to get there.
She sought out a program that could train her for a new role in law enforcement, and found the First Responders Academy. She signed up for San Antonio’s Ready to Work financial assistance. She received a full scholarship.
Inspired by his parents, who are first-generation college students, he knew that a major step in helping him achieve that goal was to enroll at San Antonio College (SAC) as an AlamoPROMISE Scholar.
As the Alamo Colleges District celebrates the completion of five years of transformative impact through AlamoPROMISE, the scholarship initiative continues to serve as a national model for expanding access and driving economic growth.
