About Us / General Information
What is The Alamo Colleges Continuing Education Department?
The Alamo Colleges Continuing Education (CE) Division creates and provides responsive workforce training programs for students, organizations, and incumbent workers.
We offer innovative, skills-focused training in as little as 4-16 weeks. We're flexible. We offer evening and weekend training in online, remote, and face-to-face modalities. CE-2-Credit workforce pathways also provide students an opportunity to earn Academic Credit Hours for certificates and degrees.
Our CE workforce training provides engaging, hands-on, and practical application in on-campus labs and externship sites. We have a seat at the table with area employers to ensure we capture relevant, real-world, required skills of high-demand and emerging industries to be a successful training provider.
Industry-recognized certifications or certificates are offered in business & entrepreneurship, health & biosciences, manufacturing & logistics, education, and science & technology.
CE has aligned with community programs such as Ready to Work: SA, Workforce Investment Act, and TPEG to create the opportunity for students to achieve their educational goals.

The State Board approves the Alamo Colleges Continuing Education department for Educator Certification to provide CPE activities to Educators for the purposes of certificate renewal purposes. All Texas Educators who hold a Standard Certificate must renew it every five (5) years. As a condition of renewal, superintendents and principals must complete 200 clock hours of CPE, and all other educators must complete 150 hours.
The Alamo Colleges Continuing Education is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award CEUs for some courses. Satisfactory completion of ten clock hours of qualified instruction equals 1.0 CEUs. Transcripts listing CEU credits satisfactorily completed will be available upon request. Otherwise, a certificate of completion is awarded upon course completion.
CE students have the option to convert CEU's to academic credits for qualifying programs which may lead towards an academic certificate or associate's degree at any of the Alamo Colleges. A six-hour academic requirement must be met before the CEU's can be transferred into college credit.
Classes canceled due to low enrollment will result in a 100% refund. Alamo Colleges District staff will make every effort to contact and notify the student of the canceled course. Refunds require 7-10 business days to process. For additional information on how to set up your refund, click here.
Financial aid for Continuing Education is managed through the Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG). Students seeking financial assistance must follow the process outlined on our TPEG Website.
