Construction Trades Program

Plan, direct, or coordinate, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. Includes managers in specialized construction fields, such as carpentry or plumbing.

May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials. May assist other craft workers.

With strategic support from the Lennar Foundation and the Building Talent Foundation (BTF), the Construction Trades Program helps learners gain the skills employers are looking for—while supporting a growing, skilled construction workforce in our region. Whether you are entering the workforce for the first time or changing careers, this program provides foundational construction skills, safety training, and career readiness to help you move quickly into employment. The program focuses on preparing learners for entry-level careers in residential construction and connecting participants with employers and industry partners.

Program Requirements

Possess proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking skills)

You are at least eighteen (18) years of age

Some High School

Must have access to a computer/tablet and the internet

Equipment: personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, earplugs, long sleeve shirt and pants, gloves, boots

 

HB 1508 Licensing Requirement

This program may lead to an occupational license for which a prior criminal history may make a student ineligible.
